Kate Westbrook
Kate’s Diana & Actæon paintings are at
The Stash Gallery, Vout-O-Reenees
The Crypt, 30, Prescot Street London E1 8BB
from September 12th to 19th

Following Classical tradition and inspired by a Gainsborough watercolour study, Kate explores the myth of Diana and Actæon. Ovid in his Metamorphoses describes the fatal encounter between the hunter Actæon and the Goddess Diana. Enraged that a mortal has seen her bathing naked, Diana splashes water on Actæon, he is transformed into a deer and
is killed by his own dogs. Westbrook’s Diana and Actæon are placed in the landscape of Dartmoor, an enthralling subject she has been exploring for decades.
